The Importance of Your Golf Club’s Blog!

Very few clubs have a blog. Those that do tend to get very excited about them for a short time an then don’t blog at all. I know, I know, blogs take time and you just don’t have the time to do it on a regular basis. But, blogs are a very important part of your overall social media strategy for several reasons and you don’t have to do it alone.
Blogs provide interesting content for your members and guest to view. People need to be entertained, educated and given a chance to engage with your club. Your blog and really all of your social media efforts in general should center around those three key elements.
Blogs also dramatically help you in search engines especially when its already a part of your regular website. Search engines love content and the more content you have on your blog and the more often you add it, the more you are going to get noticed. Another great way to bring traffic to your blog is by commenting on the blogs or social media posts of other businesses in your local market. In most cases you can leave a link to your blog in the comment box so people know who it is that is commenting and see you are interested in the community as whole.
Blogging gives your club a real face. The chef should be blogging about recipes. The wine steward or club manager about new wines you have available at the club. The golf pro can blog about golf tips or events in the golfing world. Even the greenskeeper can have a part by talking about which time of the year is best to plant various different flowers in your home garden.
By allowing all of your staff to be part of your blog, it gives a feeling of familiarity with the club and the more people feel familiar with your club and feel you are their friend, the more chance you have as keeping them as a member and of generating repeat business from daily fee customers. People generally do business with those people they like or feel some type of affinity with. Your blog is an excellent chance to develop that relationship.
