Selected courses will receive all sorts of press and media attention since this is a first with at least one event happening in every state. Be a good steward in your community and participate.
What is a National Golfathon?
The GTAA National Golfathon is one event from sun up to sun down where Non Profit Organizations recruit golfers to raise pledges and play as many holes of golf in one day as they can. 100 holes is the goal for each golfer.
When will this happen?
Each participating course will select a day between Monday, June 18 and Sunday, June 24, 2012. The event will run between 6 am and 8 pm on that particular day.
Where?
The GTAA will be selecting approx. 74 courses in the top markets in the country with the goal of at least one state per the continental United States.
Who benefits?
Everyone. The charities receive 70% of the pledges. The players have fun, reach a goal and help a charity. And golf courses get paid for a day they are normally closed with little staffing required along with national and area exposure for being a good steward in the community.
How many players per course?
The maximum number of players per course will be 36. In order to be one of these players, one must garner at least $1500 in pledges to do so. If a city has more than 36 players, then another course will be selected.
What about golf carts?
You MUST have 72 electric golf carts (or 36 gas powered) capable of completing 36 holes. (With electric carts, two rounds will be played, then carts exchanged for fresh ones for 36 holes while original carts are being recharged for another 36 holes. Please talk with your golf cart mechanic about this.)
How much staff is needed for the day?
Only one or two cart attendants. Just enough to facilitate the cart rotation after each 36 holes is played.
What about F&B?
None is needed. However, there can be some or as much as you would like to offer the players, volunteers, player support and spectators.
What about a player guarantee?
We will know two months in advance of your date as to how many players.
How do I sign up as a course? Email Leslie Devitz at lesliedevitz@gmail.com 1) if the date is available, 2) how many cart you have available, 3) if they are electric or gas, and 4) your flat rate buy out rate for the day. Event is tax exempt. We will select the lowest bid that meets the criteria.
How and when will I get paid?
The day after your event a check will be cut to your course. All pledges are secured IN ADVANCE by a credit card and as soon as each player enters his total number of holes the following day, each pledge will be automatically charged. The GTAA will be receiving all pledge money and will be making distributions immediately.
